STUDIO FLAT FLAG - Young Golf brand 'Wagle' design 영 골프 브랜드 '와글' 디자인

Overview

Wide angle의 young line으로서 기존 와이드앵글보다 젊은 1020세대를 타겟으로 기획하였습니다. 와이드앵글의 철자를 재조합하여 와글이라는 네이밍을 떠올리고 와글와글이라는 의태어로부터 꿀벌이라는 캐릭터를 발상해냈습니다. 꿀을 찾아 바삐 날아다니는 노란 벌은 그 자체로 젊음을 은유합니다.

Wagle is 'Wide Angle's young line, targeting the younger generation who are in their 10-20s unlike the existing mood of the brand. The name is derived from the initials of the Wide Angle brand name, and also the Korean term "와글와글 wagle wagle" which is a sound effect of a movement of a swarm. From these meanings, we came up with a Bee character. A busy yellow bumble-bee that flies around searching for honey is a metaphor for youth.

Concept

slab serif 계열의 폰트를 둥글게 변형하여 귀여운 느낌을 살리고 스펠링 L을 느낌표로 바꿔, 통통 튀는 젊음의 분위기를 표현했습니다.

wag!e 을 읽는 순간 브랜드명을 외치듯이 읽게 하는 것을 의도하였습니다.

We expressed the young lively mood by adding a round effect to an existing slab-serif font, and changing the letter L to an exclamation point. We intended to emphasize the brand logo look like its yelling as its read.

The First Proposal

와글의 첫 번째 디자인 시안입니다. 커다란 눈과 뾰족한 주둥이가 인상적으로 무엇을 생각하고 있을지 궁금해지는 묘한 표정의 Design A, 반복되는 원형을 워드마크에 어울리도록 원형을 Design B, 50년대 미국 만화영화 캐릭터 스타일의 Design C를 작업하였습니다.

This is Wagle’s the first design draft. Design A is a character with big eyes and a pointy mouth that gives off a curious facial expression. Design B is made of repeated circles that goes well with the word mark, and Design C is inspired from an American cartoon-style character design.

The Second Proposal

와글의 두 번째 디자인 시안입니다. 첫 번째 시안에서 눈을 더 크게 수정한 Design A, 카툰적인 표현 기법으로 이목구비를 표현하여 명랑한 분위기를 자아내는 Design B를 작업하였습니다.

Wagle’s second design draft is composed of Design A which is an edited form of the previous draft but with a bigger eye design, and Design B that has a lively energy from its cartoon-style illustration.
